Purpose: To break the ice and get to know each other on a more personal level.
Duration: 15 – 20 min
Overview: Each participant to draw 3 things about themselves on the Coat of Arms, which they use to share with the group.

Conduct:
The team sits in a circle.
Facilitator explains objective of activity – to help them get to know each other better.
Facilitator hands out worksheet with Coat of Arms template. (see below for sample)
Facilitator asks each team member to fill the corresponding spaces on the coat of arms with drawings representing the following :
- Something that epitomises your personal motto – in words or pictures.
- Something that you really are good at.
- Your favourite pastime.
You may wish to vary the categories, for example :
- Something about yourself that very few people know.
- Something that represents your most recent triumph (e.g. gold for IPPT, getting a promotion)
- Something about your family and/or home.
After everyone has finished, team members are to display and explain their coat of arms to the others in the group.
Alternatively, after they have all completed their coat of arms, team members can form trios (preferably of participants who don’t know each other) and try to decipher each other’s coat of arms.
After everyone has finished sharing, get them to write their names on their coat of arms and paste them up on the wall for everyone to see.
